DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1 Ulaanbaatar - Amarbayasgalant Monastery
09:00 AM. Our guide and driver will meet you at your accommodation in Ulaanbaatar. Drive to Amarbayasgalant Monastery, located in beautiful Iven Valley near the Selenge River, in Baruunburen sum of Selenge aimag, about 60km east of Erdenet city. Monastery was established in 1726 dedicated to Saint Zanabazar, Bogdo Zanabazar, also known as Undur Gegeen Zanabazar and Bogd Jebtsundamba (1635-1723), sculptor and spiritual leader of Mongols, the grandson of Avtai Sain Khan and a direct descendant of Genghis Khan. It was an one of the large and most important monasteries in Mongolia, included about fifty datsans and many temples, housed a community of around 6000 monks. Its architecture is a perfect blend of Mongolian, Tibetan and Buddhist shills. Since 1943 the monastery stands under state protection, was restored and revitalized. Its was also inscribed on the List of World Heritage in 1996. Today, only 28 temples remain. Amarbayasgalant Monastery is visited by both local and international followers of Buddhism, tourists in large number, every year. Climb up the hill with a new golden statue and a stupa behind the monastery to have a great view on the monastery and its surroundings. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the tourist Ger camp.

DAY 2 Amarbayasgalant Monastery - Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, drive back to Ulaanbaatar. On the way we will make a stop for lunch in a local road cafe. Also, you have the opportunity to visit a Mongolian local nomad family, to experience their lifestyle, culture, traditions. The trip finishes at your hotel/homestay in Ulaanbaatar.
