As the name suggests, this tour following some of the most beautiful attractions of Mongolia such as Karakorum, ancient capital of the Great Mongol Empire, the oldest surviving buddhist monastery in Mongolia, Erdenezuu Monastery (built in 1586), truly is an epic adventure.

ITINERARY

07:30 AM. Our guide and driver will meet you at your accommodation in Ulaanbaatar. We drive to Karakorum (370km west of Ulaanbaatar), ancient capital of the Great Mongol Empire, one of the main tourist destinations in Mongolia. On the way we will make a stop at the Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes, the largest and most spectacular sand dunes in Mongolia. Lunch will be provided during the day. After arrival to Kharkhorin sum Uvurkhangai aimag, we’ll visit museum of Karakorum and ruins of ancient city. Accomodation at the tourist Ger camp, having rest and dinner.

After breakfast, we’ll visit the oldest surviving buddhist monastery in Mongolia, part of the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape World Heritage Site, Erdenezuu Monastery (1586) located near the ruins of Karakorum. Most of the artefacts you'll see – wall paintings, thangkas, masks etc – are 18th century. Many are in excellent condition. The monastery is an about 2km north-east of the center of Kharkhorin sum. This afternoon we’ll continue our trip and drive to Khustai National Park (110km west of Ulaanbaatar). On the way we will make a stop for lunch in one of the local road cafes. On arrival in Khustai NP, we’ll visit Ger Museum, have a brief introduction of history and development of Khustai NP, hear about the Takhi wild horses, which made the Park instantly famous. Accomodation at the tourist Ger camp, having rest and dinner.

After breakfast provided at a tourist Ger camp in the Khustai NP, we'll drive to the habitat of the last surviving subspecies of wild horses, Przewalski's horses, enjoy the beautiful nature of the Park. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. The trip finishes at your hotel/homestay in Ulaanbaatar.
