DAY 1 Genghis Khan's Statue Complex - Terelj National Park

  • Short drive to Terelj National Park

  • Visit mongolian nomadic family
  • Dinner and night in a tourist Ger camp
DAY 2 Khustai National Park
  • After breakfast, drive to Khustai National Park (about 110km west of Ulaanbaatar)
  • Visit Ger Museum of the Khustai NP
  • Lunch at a tourist Ger camp in the Khustai NP
  • After lunch drive to the habitat of Przewalski's horses
  • Excursion to Moltsog Small Sand Dunes

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1 Genghis Khan's Statue Complex - Terelj National Park
09:00 AM. Our guide and driver will meet you at your accommodation in Ulaanbaatar. Drive to Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue, 130 ft (40 m) stainless steel monument of Genghis Khan, founder and Great Khan (emperor) of the Mongol Empire located on the bank of the Tuul River at Tsonjin Boldog 76 km east of Ulaanbaatar. You can walk to the head of the horse through its chest and neck to have a panoramic view over the complex area, natural beauty. Genghis Khan's Statue Complex also contains a restaurant, mongolian souvenir shops, museum which has exhibitions relating to the Bronze Age and Xiongnu archaeological cultures in Mongolia. After arrival to Terelj NP we will have lunch at the tourist ger camp before starting the excursion through the park. By law, National Parks of Mongolia are protected for public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment. Terelj NP (Gorkhi-Terelj National Park) is one of the national parks of Mongolia located near the Ulaanbaatar city. The park comprises 2 931,68 square kilometres. Park wildlife includes brown bears and over 250 species of birds. The Tuul River flows through the park. The park has many rock formations for rock climbers and includes two famous formations named for things they resemble: Turtle Rock (Mongolian: Melkhii Khad) and the Old Man Reading a Book (Praying Lama Rock) which have an interesting ancient legends. Also, our excursion includes a small hiking to Ariyabal Buddhist Meditation Temple, where we can meditate and relieve city stress. At the end of the excursion you will have the opportunity to visit a Mongolian local nomad family, to experience their lifestyle, culture, traditions, religion and hospitality, to taste Mongolian dishes. Dinner and overnight at the tourist Ger camp will finish this day.

DAY 2 Khustai National Park
After breakfast, drive to Khustai National Park (110km west of Ulaanbaatar), known as the motherland of Przewalski's horses (world widely endangered Takhi wild horses ). On arrival in Khustai NP, we'll visit Ger Museum, have a brief introduction of history and development of Khustai National Park, hear about the Takhi wild horses, which made the Park instantly famous. After lunch provided at a tourist Ger camp in the Khustai NP, we will drive to the habitat of the last surviving subspecies of wild horses, Przewalski's horses. An excursion to the Moltsog Small Sand Dunes and enjoy the atmosphere of small Gobi desert is followed by a visit to the beautiful nature of the Park. Drive back to Ulaanbaatar city. The trip finishes at your hotel/homestay in Ulaanbaatar.
